WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (Oct. 27, 2023)—–The University of Arkansas men and the University of Florida women claimed the 2023 Southeastern Conference cross country titles at the SEC Championships here Friday morning at Charwood Golf Club.
This marks the 28th SEC crown for the Arkansas men and third in the last four years. The Florida women’s team claimed its seventh title and first since 2012. The Florida women are ranked No. 7 nationally, while the Arkansas men are ranked eighth.
Alabama’s Victor Kiprop claimed the men’s individual 8K title with a time of 22:23.4, while Arkansas‘ Patrick Kiprop was second in 22:31.6. Alabama’s Hillary Cheruiyot was third in 22:39.4. Florida’s Parker Valby took home the women’s 6K title in 18:37.5, ahead of Alabama’s Doris Lemngole (19:11.2) and Hilda Olemomoi (19:23.5).
Arkansas won the men’s title with 38 points, followed by Alabama (57), Tennessee (59), Texas A&M (140) and Auburn (148) to round out the top-five.
The Florida women won with 49 points, finishing ahead of Arkansas (59), Tennessee (80), Alabama (84) and fifth place Ole Miss (107).
The NCAA Cross Country Regionals are scheduled to take place Friday, Nov. 10. 2023
