OXFORD, Miss. – Kelly Brady netted the first hat trick of her career Sunday afternoon as Ole Miss (4-2-1) wrapped up non-conference play with a 6-2 win over Louisiana Tech (3-4-1).

The Rebels nearly doubled their season goal total, scoring six goals in a match for the first time since August 17, 2018. Brady became the first Rebel to score three goals in a match since CeCe Kizer did so on August 19, 2018 against Western Kentucky. Gili Johnson scored two goals for the first brace of her career and Meredith King scored her first goal in a Rebel uniform.

Grace Freeman, Aubrey Mister, and Dakota Jarrett each dished out an assist, the first career points for both Freeman and Jarrett.

Ole Miss held the Bulldogs to only seven shots on the day and just four on goal.

The scoring came consistently for the Rebels, starting with Brady’s first goal of the day in the 14th minute. Freeman sent a pass from the right side of the box all the way into the left side of the six-yard box where a sprinting Brady was able to get to it and send it into the net.

In the 19th minute, Johnson scored her first goal of the day as she won a foot race with a Tech defender and the goalkeeper and was able to poke the ball just past both and into the goal.

Brady scored her second goal of the day in the 28th minute when she took advantage of an error by the Bulldog goalkeeper, giving her a wide-open look on an empty net to put the Rebels up 3-0.

Louisiana Tech was able to get on the board in the 40th minute and Ole Miss took a 3-1 lead into the halftime break.

King started the scoring for Ole Miss in the second half by running down a long pass from Mister, giving it one touch, and then driving it into the left side of the goal to make it 4-1 Ole Miss.

Under four minutes later, Brady capped off her hat trick by dribbling right down the middle of the field with two defenders and slotting the ball to the right of the diving goalkeeper all on her own.

Johnson and Jarrett teamed up in the 85th minute as Jarrett made a pass into the top of the box from about 30 yards out where Johnson drove it home with her right foot and put the Rebel up by five scores. The Bulldogs scored again with just 18 seconds left to play to make it the final score of 6-2.

Ole Miss will begin SEC play this week when they host LSU on Friday.
