In the top of the ninth inning, Keila Kamoku came to the plate with two outs and the winning run waiting on second, but didn’t give it a second thought as she drilled the first pitch of her at bat over the left field fence to earn the Rebels extra-inning win, 7-5, and take the series against Missouri,

Tate Whitley led off the ninth with a bunt for a single before Savanna Sike’s sac bunt pushed her to second and in scoring position. Kamoku’s two-run homer drove the Rebels‘ momentum on defense, executing three straight outs to end it.

Mya Stevenson also had quite the day at the plate, going 2-for-4, scoring the first run of the contest after hitting a double in the second inning and blasting a three-run home run in the fourth frame to extend the Tigers‘ lead, 5-1.

Missouri held on, tying the game with a three-run fifth inning, while Cierra Harrison and Laurin Krings combined for nine strikeouts in the circle. Julia Crenshaw also came through big in the Tigers‘ fight, going 2-for-3 with walk, solo homer, and a triple that brought in the tying run. Payton Jackson’s two-RBI double in the fifth also proved crucial to their comeback efforts.

Brooke Vestal earned the win as the Rebels fourth pitcher to enter the game, notching two of their three strikeouts and only allowing one hit and one walk in her three innings from the mound.
